FIFA World Cup and WSOP – main events of 2010.
2010 is remarkable for 2 great events – Soccer World Cup and World Series of Poker. Both events are taking place this summer, one – in the main cities of South Africa and another – in Las Vegas. Although in most of the countries poker is not considered as a sport, and in some countries – it is event not legalized, we do believe that poker is one of the most fascinating sport ever existed.
1.You may watch poker from home, on tv. Soccer venue – is a field, poker venue is a poker table.
2.You may watch tournament alive, and get more vivid emotions. In soccer you may notice every movement of a player, and in poker – there is a bit of mistery as you can not see the cards of players.
3.Winning in World Cup is a great national pride, winning in poker – is a personal pride and a great cash prize, of cause.
4.There are many icons in poker, as well as in soccer and any other sport: soccer has Messi and Rooney, and poker – Gus Hansen and Daniel Negreanu. Let us notice that soccer players get older and retire, and poker players – don’t.
5.About the scoring – every several minutes one of the players wins, and in soccer – there might be 1 or 2 goals a day!
6.Both – soccer and poker players can be injured during the game. Soccer players usually suffer from pain related with physical activity at the field, and poker players biggest problem is back woes – from sitting too long time, and wrist woes – from playing to much online poker.
7.Fashion exists in both games: yellow-and-blue jersey of Brazil’s soccer heros is of cause more popular than Titan’Poker shirts, but give a little bit more time and poker fashion will take its place.
There are many other ways to compare poker and soccer, and many more reasons for poker to become a sport. We wish all the players of WSOP and FIFA World Cup – good luck at the championships!
